Can someone explain fairness versus freedom of press?

The Constitution protects the right to freedom of the press. There is a line, of course, between freedom to right what you want and slander, etc., but fairness is not a valid reason to halt the freedom guaranteed by people to write about what they want and to say/draw conclusions of what they believe or think.
