Are the Islam jinn the same as the 3 wishes kind?

LOL I'm guessing not. I asked a Muslim about Jinn once and he said it's the same as a genie. I doubt they grant you wishes though, but hey, you never know. LOL sorry but I'm actually serious about this question.
